Employment Law Solicitor (2+ PQE)

Samuel Phillips Law (SPL) is a well-established law firm based on the prestigious Grey Street in Newcastle.  Far from a high street firm, SPL is a progressive and ambitious firm, striving to be ‘best in class’!

The firm has a broad value proposition with services across a number of specialist areas, including; Employment Law,  Family Law, Commercial and Civil Litigation, Commercial and Residential Property, and Wills, Probates & Trusts.

SPL are looking to recruit an ambitious and driven Employment Law solicitor who is looking for a new, progressive and vibrant environment to progress their career.  Working alongside a highly regarded Employment Partner, the recruit would be presented with an opportunity to work with some excellent clients on a broad range of employment law matters.

Additionally, the recruit would be directly involved in developing and growing the employment law offering with full support from the Head of Employment and the CEO (commercial and non-lawyer) to market, promote and complement the recruit to maximise success.

The firm has recently launched a new confident brand and website, is implementing a number of digital services, has a particularly strong client base amongst high net worth individuals and can offer fantastic work with some great clients. It can also offer extremely stylish and well-thought-out office space within which to work.

Despite its long history, this is certainly not a traditional law firm!  Whilst you will be working with a very well-established partner but there is no glass ceiling – so, for those who seek it, there are opportunities for real progression.

The firm is looking for a solicitor who is confident in his or her own skin, forges strong relationships with the business community, is agile, has a confident personal brand and can bring genuine enthusiasm to work.

The ideal candidate will match the following attributes and criteria;

  • Fully qualified solicitor of 2+ PQE
  • At least two years hands-on technical experience of running a varied employment law caseload;
  • A personable, confident and articulate communicator;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent client care skills and attitude;
  • Must be able to build strong, valuable relationships with clients and third parties;
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of law within the practice in order to refer appropriate clients and to work collaboratively with colleagues;
  • Self-managing – able to comfortably run own caseload with a broad range of employment client matters;
  • Must be able to achieve set targets and KPI’s;
  • Must be able to conduct own advocacy;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills;
  • Able to up-sell, on-sell and cross-sell services;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Proficient in the use of IT, MS Office, MS Excel and CMS;
  • Effective and confident networker and business developer.

The office is open plan so the ability to work together and share ideas is paramount.
